Description of the assignment: Consultant to provide training to kindergarten methodologists, preschool institution managers and educators, at the institutional level
Republic of Moldova has received financing from the EFA/FTI Catalytic Trust Fund in the amount of USD 8.8 million, and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this grant to payments under the contract with a local consultant to provide training to kindergarten methodologists, preschool institution managers and educators, at the institutional level.
In the framework of the Education Reform MoE is implementing the “Education for All - Fast Track Initiative” Project as part of the Consolidated National Action Plan on Education. One of the project activities is to provide in-service training to kindergarten methodologists, preschool institution managers and educators, at the institutional level, with a view to supporting the efforts of the teaching staff in providing better quality education services.
Expected results: (i) 886 teaching staff of the kindergartens and Community Centers for Children will have a better understanding of the principles and practices of a child-centered methodology based on the new curriculum, teacher guide, child development and teacher standards and apply new teaching and learning methods in the classroom; (ii) 92 preschool institutions (51 kindergartens, 41 Community Centers) will demonstrate a change produced at the institutional level in terms of mutual support/consulting in application of new methods, projection of activities based on standards, curriculum and the guide.
MoE now invites eligible FIRMS to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested firms must indicate their qualifications to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, general qualifications etc.) and provide brief information attesting to their compliance with the following Qualification requirements:
- Experience with applying interactive child-centered teaching methods;
- Experience with development and implementation of training of trainers program(s), related to ECD education, for teaching staff from preschool units;
- At least 5 years experience in training of the pre-school teaching staff, especially in designing the education activities.
Qualifications regarded advantageous:
- Good knowledge of the education system of the Republic of Moldova with a special focus on ECD sub-sector
- Prior experience with International Funding Agencies
The Consultant will provide qualified staff to conduct the study (a team leader responsible for designing the project, overall supervision of course’s implementation, reporting to the MoE; a project coordinator, responsible for coordination of project implementation and assessment, direct coordination with MoE and raion pre-school inspectors; and trainers, responsible for implementation of training courses).
A Consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection ad Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (current edition).
